Fire Analysis and Reconstruction is intended to serve as a resource for any fire investigator or failure analysis engineer who has the task of determining the cause of a fire related loss. Containing the most recent advances in the field, the book will provide the user with a sound methodology through the use of the Scientific Method. Several chapters of the book will be devoted to the understanding of basic concepts in combustion and fire science including the physics and chemistry of fire, electricity and fire, and building response to fire. Advances in technology have also led to dramatic improvements in the use of quantitative tool for fire reconstruction and analysis, the author will devote a chapter to the understanding the background, use and limitations of various quantitative tools for fire investigation including computer fire models. The book will then go on to discuss the documenting the fire. This process includes both documenting the physical scene of the fire and documenting information form witnesses. Both of these processes are discussed by the author in detail. In discussing these aspect of fire investigation, the investigator should be able to recognize the cause and origin of a fire.
