This book is designed for the introductory programming course or the software engineering projects course offered in departments of computer science. In essence, it is a cookbook for software engineering, presenting the subject as a series of steps (or rules) that the student can apply to successfully complete any software project. In contrast, Pressman's other book, Software Engineering: A Practitioner's Approach, 2/e, (1987), is intended as a text for senior and graduate level courses and is a more comprehensive, in-depth treatment of the software engineering process.

Biografía del autor
Roger S. Pressman is an internationally recognised authority on software process improvement and software engineering technologies. He is currently president of R. S. Pressman and Associates Inc., a consultancy specialising in software engineering practices.
