C. S. Lewis said everything he wrote was influenced by George MacDonald. According to Lewis, there is "hardly any other writer who seems to be closer, or more continuously close, to the Spirit of Christ Himself." Writing a preface and selecting MacDonald's most poignant passages, Lewis introduces us to these extraordinary treasures. Ranging from "Inexorable Love" to "The Torment of Death," these words will instruct and uplift.

Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954, when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics in The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and have been transformed into three major motion pictures.

Paper Back. Condición: Very Good. About George MacDonald, C.S. Lewis wrote 'I know hardly any other writer who seems to be closer, or more continually close, to the Spirit of Christ Himself.' In this book, Lewis offers 365 selections from MacDonald's work, ranging from 'Inexorable Love' to 'The Torment of Death,' from 'Immorality' to 'Peace in Our Time.' Besides being a remarkable mythologist and devotional writer in his own right, Lewis said that he had never written a book that didn't quote from George MacDonald (and you might recall he takes on the Virgilian role of guide through heaven in Lewis' The Great Divorce). Binding firm, text pristine and unmarked, cover shows minor shelfwear and scuffing. Nº de ref. del artículo: 251045
