This account of William Bligh's epic open boat voyage to Timor after the mutiny on his ship HMS Bounty in April 1789 is based on his notebook kept on that perilous journey in the ship's launch, which lasted till June of that year. The editor's 38 page introductory section is followed by his transcript of the notebook entries which were made daily (with the editor's notes), the next chapter relates to Bligh's navigational calculations from the notebook, then a bibliography and list of the Bounty mutineers with details of age, height, complexion , physical characteristics and marks, finally there is a facsimilie reproduction of the actual notebook and the mutineers' list. 336 pages, illustrations other than the facsimilie sections include colour art frontis of Bligh, toned fascimilie of entry from Bounty's log on the day of the mutiny, double page colour art of Bligh and his supporters being set adrift from the Bounty, the ships launch at sea, fold-out plan of the ship's launch with verso map of its course spread over two fold-outs ( four panels), fold out print of two ships in Kupang, another fold out shows the landing of Bligh and company at Kupang, The introduction includes two photos of contemporary navigation instruments and document reproductions.
