He appears regularly on many TV and radio shows and networks, including the CBS Early Show, CNN, National Public Radio's All Things Considered, MSNBC, and CNBC.

Preston started volunteer work when he was a teen in Spring Valley, New York, helping organize a Walk for Hunger, and has continued his volunteer work through the years. He has two children: Mia, who at age 15 is every inch a teen; and Gabe, who at age 11 is just beginning to eye teenhood. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with his wife Lydia, two children, and a rabbit named Polichinelle.
