Atticus, captain of one of the ships of Rome's small, coastal fleet, is from a Greek fishing family. John Stack was born and lives in County Cork. He has always wanted to write but spent a long time working in other fields. In 2009, with the publication of Ship of Rome, he fulfilled a lifelong ambition of becoming an author.
