Exclusive new seven-volume edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's masterwork, voted Book of the Century in major polls
Sauron, the Dark Lord, has gathered to him the Rings of Power – the means by which he will be able to rule the world. All he lacks in his plan for dominion is the Ruling Ring, which has fallen into the hands of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as the ring is entrusted to his care. He must leave his home and make a perilous journey across the realms of Middle-earth to the Crack of Doom, deep inside the territories of the Dark Lord. There he must destroy the Ring forever and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

Soft cover. Condición: Fine. 2nd Edition. trade paperbacks, seven volumes in slipcase. Various pages. Volume Four has a crease to the front cover. Other than that flaw, all volumes are in fine condition and have never been read. A great copy of the epic story for Tolkien collectors. Extra shipping will be applied to the set. In 2001 Collins issued The Lord of the Rings in seven volumes which is how Tolkien originally wanted the story to be published. Unwin understandably balked at the idea and until this edition - printed in paperback and hardcover - was published, Tolkien's original concept was never released. This makes the normally bulky books much easier to read. The Appendices are now in a separate volume which makes more sense than printing them at the end of an already long book. This edition was only issued once as a prelude to the upcoming movies which had not yet been released. Nº de ref. del artículo: 000493
