Facsimile of the 1892 Sanborn fire-insurance atlas of Albany, New York, reproduced in full color from the Library of Congress copy. It covers the whole city of 95,000 people, from the Capitol, the City Hall and the stores of State Street, Broadway and Pearl Street and the piers of the Albany Basin, through North Albany, West Albany, Groesbeckville and Kenwood, to Greenbush and Bath on the Hudson across the river and the Albany County villages of Coeymans, Coeymans Junction, Rensselaerville, Clarksville, Altamont, Guilderland Center and South Bethlehem.
The one hundred nineteen numbered sheets work block by block from the stores, banks, hotels and theatres along State Street, Broadway, North and South Pearl Street, Green Street, Hudson Avenue, Eagle Street and Washington Avenue - the Capitol, the City Hall, the State Hall, the Governor's Mansion, the County Jail, the Commercial Bank, Albany Savings Bank, Tweddle and Treadwell buildings, Harmanus Bleecker Hall, the Leland Opera House, the Academy of Music, the Gaiety Theatre, Stanwix Hall, the Kenmore, Delavan House, Keeler's and Merchants' hotels, the Fort Orange Club and the Y. M. C. A. - through the New York Central & Hudson River freight houses, elevator and bridge-repair shops, the Delaware & Hudson Canal Company's building, passenger depot, freight depots, round house and locomotive shops, the Albany Railway power house, the piers of the Albany Basin and the Daily Line and People's Line steamboat depots, the Rathbone Sard, Perry, Littlefield and Albany stove works, the Albany Iron and Machine Works, the Albany Card and Paper and Billiard Ball companies, the Hudson River Aniline Color Works at Greenbush, the Beverwyck, Hinkle, Dobler, McCredie, Taylor, Hendricks and Windsor breweries and the malt houses, the flour mills, the Boyd, Hughson, Hubbell & Hill and Thompson lumber yards, the West Albany stock yards, the water-works pumping stations, to the Albany Hospital, St. Peter's Hospital, the Child's Hospital, the Home for Incurables, the Albany Orphan Asylum, St. Vincent's Orphan Asylum, the County Penitentiary and Alms House, the Albany Academy, the Female Academy, the Albany High School, the New York State Normal College, the Albany Medical College and Law School, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, All Saints Cathedral, the Catholic and Dutch Reformed churches, the Protestant churches of every denomination and the Beth-Emeth synagogue, Washington Park and the Fair Grounds, and the residential streets of North Albany, West Albany, Groesbeckville, Kenwood, Menands and Loudonville, Greenbush and Bath on the Hudson across the river, and the villages of Coeymans, Coeymans Junction, Rensselaerville, Clarksville, Altamont, Guilderland Center and South Bethlehem.
In 1892 the Sanborn-Perris Map Company of New York surveyed Albany for the fire-insurance trade, drawing the city at fifty feet to the inch. Every building is shown to scale and color-coded for construction (yellow for frame, pink for brick, blue for stone), with heights, uses, windows, party walls, hydrants, water mains and fire stations all marked. The index lists every street and every named business, church, school, hotel, mill and works with the sheet it appears on, and the key map places the colored sheet grid over the whole city.
This Exile Books edition is an unabridged facsimile republication of the atlas: the combined title and index sheet, the key map, all one hundred nineteen numbered map sheets and the three skeleton sheets, printed at 8.5 x 11 inches on premium color paper. We ask all customers to contact us for authorisation should they wish to return their order. Orders returned without authorisation may not be credited.
If you wish to return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to obtain authorisation.
Returns requested beyond this time will not be authorised.

Efectos del desistimiento

Excepciones al derecho de desistimiento
