1955 SECOND PRINTING of First Edition. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering spine and gilt emblem front cover. NOT ex-library. The book has clean covers, very slight fading to spine, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, a little edge foxing on pages opposite photo plates otherwise no foxing, drop mark upper edge of text block the penetrates about 4mm into upper margin of affected pages (see photo), solid binding. The original dust jacket has some tiny foxing spots, tiny loss at tips of corners, two 1cm tears upper rear, original printed price still present on front flap corner. NOTE: the Tenzing signature on the dedication page is PRINTED (not written by hand) -- ALL examples of this book have this printed signature.
