Dark blur cloth with gilt-lettered sp., no obvious faults. facing coloured plates with printed tissue guards, serving as f/piece + unpaginated prelims + 206, 18 text figs and numerous photo-plates ex-pagination; Prev. owner's inscription to fr. end-paper: D.T. Hull/ "Birmingham"/ 24th April 1940/CHD (?), (presumably H.M.S. Birmingham, a light cruiser being deployed off Norway at this date), outer sides of end-papers have inner half tanned, off-set from jacket, otherwise clean, tight and unmarked. Unclipped illustrated jacket in protective sleeve as acquired unworn but but light tanning to spine and thin grey line down centre back, fr. has 2 small removable stickers to top corner, over sleeve, 'Imported from U.K.' and 'Exchange Credit cannot be used in purchasing this item' Covers full range of precious, semi-precious, quartz and 'unusual' gemstones.
