Without the dedication, list of contents, and initials of contributors added to the second edition. pp(4)/(4)XV(1)215(1)/(4) including two blank preliminary leaves and two blank final leaves; advertisement leaf and 'Some Account of Scarborough' between title-page and main text. Title-page spotted, quite densely so towards fore-edge. Text spotted, here & there quite deeply & patchily toned, with a few mainly-light handling marks, some offsetting from plates, and occasional light corner creases confined to margins. Full complement of 21 hand-coloured aquatint plates including frontispiece, some with undersize loose tissue-guards. A number of plates with engraver's name J. C. Stadler, a few with J. Bluck, none with Rowlandson. Yellow-tinted edges of text-block dulled, top edge being dust-marked, fore- & lower edges a little toned, and fore-edge also lightly dust- or handling-marked towards foot. Contemporary half red leather with marbled paper-covered boards and blue-green endpapers. Smooth spine with title and rules in gilt, and gilt and blindstamped decorations. Spine and hinges lightly rubbed, as are board surfaces and tips of outer corners; board edges rubbed, along which here & there a little paper peeling and loss. Binding holding firmly and of pleasing shelf appearance; contents tight, with text a little wanting in appearance, but with plates in generally very good condition. GOOD+ copy.
