Descripción
Contemporary half-vellum and polished plain boards, page edges tinted red. 8vo, 226 and 256 pp., respectively. First two collections of this series, bound together. Mid-19th century ownership inscription on title page. Few pages with light pencil marks in margins. Binding in very good condition, spine not lettered. Slight foxing, very small water stain in bottom corner of rear free endpaper. A very clean, about fine copy. A skeptical look at superstitions, including the meaning of dreams. According to a recent scholarly work, Keller, a Lutheran pastor, "argued that the divine origin of prophetic dreams might be identified by their contents, which must be significant, lucid, convincing, and in agreement with the teachings of the Bible," whereas "confused dreams are not of divine but of natural origin , consisting of recollections mixed up by the imagination of the dreamer." The latter explanation accords very well with some of the latest theories about dreams as forgetting. The next-to-last piece in the second collection concerns werewolves. N° de ref. del artículo 5047
