Grey hessian with gilt-on black spine lettering, no obvious faults. Vol.1 (A-F) xviii + 396, Vol.2 (G-P) x + 390, Vol.3 (P-Z) x + 401; all volumes have numerous lib. stamps from 2 institutions to end-papers, edges, both sides of title pages & occ. elsewhere plus bar-codes to fr. endpapers and 2 with small brown loan-card pockets. All jackets unclipped, lib. number label and a lib number ghost bottom all spine, spine tops all sl. rubbed, and backs with what appear to be heavy tanning patches, all in protective sleeves but this have (or had before I opened most of them) sellotape strips to fix them to paste-downs, removal of which has in one case taken a small piece of paper surface with it, one could go on . Upshot is that despite main texts being internally clean and covers themselves fine the library legacies drop the rating, in my judgement, to just below Good.
