The five page introduction by Starrett puts the entire story in perspective. With the bookplate of Adrian Homer Goldstone on the front pastedown. Goldstone (1897-1977) was the noted bibliophile who also authored the bibliographies of Steinbeck and Machen. This is a variant copy that is 1/2 inch taller than the previous copy described and 1/4 inch thinner. Foxed along inner gutters. patterned paper-covered boards, paper cover label. The recipient was drama critic Claudia Cassidy who was good friends with Stevens. Laid in is a three page typed copy of a review/ press release about the publication of this book with a pencil inscription from Stevens to Cassidy as well.
