BOONE & CROCKETT CLUB - The Acorn Series published by the Boone and Crockett Club beginning in 1895, complete set of seven. The Boone and Crockett Club s publishing history began in 1893 with the release of its first Acorn series book, American Big Game Hunting . The Acorn Series, its chronology designated by a corresponding number of tiny acorns appearing on the spines. Each of the Acorn Series is an anthology of hunting adventures written by Club members and their contemporaries, and while the Club s conservation efforts are specifically focused on North America, Acorn Series chapters provide fascinating accounts of old time hunting worldwide. Seven individual titles of the Acorn series books were published until the Club s first records book premiered in 1932. Encountering a complete set of Acorn Series books is a rarely offered opportunity. GENERAL CONDITION: Overall all VG with vols 1-6 with dulled spines as is normal for these books. Vol. 7 is near fine. Contains numerous hunting stories, Club history, constitution & bylaws of Boone & Crockett Club as well as list of members. Burgundy cloth binding. Interior clean. 2) "Hunting in Many Lands"; Edited by Theodore Roosevelt & George Bird Grinnell, Forest & Stream, 1914, later printing of 1895 edition. 447 pgs, photo illustrations. Contains hunting in East Africa, India, Russia, Mongolia, and elsewhere including North America, plus Boone & Crockett Club information & member list. Burgundy cloth binding. Interior clean. 5) "Hunting at High Altitudes", edited by George Bird Grinnell, Harper & Bros. 1913. First edition, 511 pgs, photo Illustrations. Memoirs of a Beart Hunter by Col. Wm. Pickett (pgs 15-241), additional hunting stories, with Club information including list of members. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Shelf rubbed, spine dulled, corner bumped, spine ends worn; interior with former owners inked names, else clean and tight. 6) "Hunting & Conservation", edited by George Bird Grinnell and Charles Sheldon, Yale University Press, 1925. First edition. 548 pgs, photo illustrations. Hunting and conservation anthology with Club information and member names / addresses.
