From the library of the poet David Gascoyne, with the Gascoyne library book-label and inscribed by the author on the half-title, "à David Gascoyne, qui connaît la nature du feu . . . Stétié"; loosely inserted two typed letters signed from the author to Gascoyne, 4pp. 4to, The Hague, 30 November and 23 December 1983. Salah Stétié met Gascoyne through the Pierre Jean Jouves. "J'ai été très heureux de vous revoir aux festivités de 'One World Poetry'," he writes to Gascoyne (30 November 1983), "et de vous accueillir, à cette occasion, chez moi, ainse que votre charmante femme. Vous savez, depuis nos années Jouve, l'admiration que je porte à votre travail d'écrivain et de poète . . ." He ventures to send some of his books, and wonders whether any of his poems might appear in English "dans une traduction signée: David Gascoyne". The Gascoynes stayed with Stétié the following year in The Hague, where he was serving as Lebanese ambassador to the Netherlands. N° de ref. del artículo G101787
