Published 1765-1783. Original engraving on hand-made paper, produced for the first edition of Buffon's Histoire Naturelle Generale et Particuliere, this being plate number 245. These plates were also issued separately between 1765 and 1783 by the Parisian publisher Panckoucke, without text, under the general title of Les planches enluminées. Cf. Anker 76; cf. Balis 40; cf. Paper size 12 x 8.5 Ins., plate mark 10 x 8.3 Ins.
