1923. 103 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Marbled paper covered boards with black cloth to spine. Copy no. 197 of 750 copies. Contains black and white illustrated plates. Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout, heavier to endpapers. Previous owner's inscription and white plate to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Crushing to spine ends with small splits and fraying to cloth. Library stickers and tape to spine. Copy no. 664 from 750 printed. The book was the first step made by Stanley Morison (1889 - 1967), a British typographer and historian of printing, to improve standards of printing. The volume contains a range of good types available to the public at the time divided into three broad groups: Venetian School, Old Face School, and Titling Letter.
