Sinopsis: Introduces the culture of South Korea by depicting the life of an eleven-year-old resident of Seoul who is preparing for a career as an athlete.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 3-5Color photographs tell as much as the text about children who live in these countries. Ten-year-old Mohita, for example, lives with her family in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her neighborhood is described, as are her school and her hope to be a doctor. Readers learn about Mohita's friends, their leisure activities, their food, their ceremonies. Nepalese words, later defined, are sprinkled throughout the text. The last third of the book, ``For Your Information,'' gives the history, language, religions, government, and other facts that report-writers need. Particularly interesting are sections on the Nepalese in North America and ideas for research projects and activities, including an address where a pen pal can be found. All four books follow the same format. Each is attractive and not too long, contains a lot of good current information, and gives a feeling of what it's like to be a child living in that country.Carolyn Jenks, Oyster River Elementary School, Durham, N.H.
