First edition. 8vo. x, 414, (2) pp. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettered to the spine, gilt crest to the upper board, dust jacket photographically illustrated to the upper panel. Frontispiece and 38 photographic plates, some two to a page. The uncommon jacket edge worn with losses, the book itself is very good. A statesman, politician and writer, Curzon served as Viceroy of India between 1899 and 1905. This posthumously published work comprises excerpts from Curzon's notes during his time in the Indian subcontinent, including long chapters on Chitral and the north west frontier, as well as others on the Levant.
