Acerca de

Sinopsis:

High school junior Eddie thinks he may have found the solution to his anger and unfocused identity in the beautiful, disturbing Angela Favor, until she draws him into the investigation of the murder of her director at the New Energy Theater Troupe.

From School Library Journal:

Grade 8-12-- A fair mystery with some interesting twists that could lead readers to a different suspect, but don't. Teenaged Eddie Lymurek falls into the clutches of attractive, rich Angela Favor, which almost costs him everything. Angela is involved in a theater troupe that lost its director, Corey Howe-Browne, when his immoral acts with some of the young players were revealed and he disappeared. His body is pulled from the bottom of Lake Minnetonka. Eddie's relationship with Angela changes as she reveals more of her deceptive, narcissistic nature and finally prompts the police to question Eddie as a suspect in Howe-Browne's murder. Eddie's decision to trust someone allows the detective in charge of the case to set up a drama that breaks Angela's aloof exterior, revealing a troubled, guilty, manipulative young woman. The elaborate set-up of the murder is commendable, as is its convoluted "why," but somehow neither rings true. The characters are two-dimensional, without a human side. The one character who does become three-dimensional is the detective, an intelligent, subtle bear of a man. The plot is not a real page-turner, but moves along evenly from event to event. What is suspect is the ability of a young person, albeit a brilliant one, to pull off an elaborate murder plot such as this without confiding in anyone else and to have such a deep understanding of another's psyche that she is able to lure him into a trap without a suspicion. A passable mystery that isn't a Duncan or Nixon, but that could be added to large mystery collections or where Schwandt's other two books have done well. --Kathryn Havris, Mesa Pub . Lib . , AZ
