Sinopsis:

Ed and William, two vets blinded in Vietnam, meet in the Veterans Hospital. They become fast friends as Ed uses humor to overcome life's obstacles. Ed invites his buddy to return home with him to Chicago. A still-angry William meets Mary who's also blind, but sees the beauty of the world. They fall in love and have a sighted son. The boy fulfills his Dad's dream when he enrolls in hockey. Figure skating intrudes as a means to an end. But the means becomes the end as Victor eventually earns a spot on the Olympic team. Victor is at the top of the rainbow and the world sees him as a self-centered, spoiled brat who would even desert his parents. His former hockey coach helps his family see there's no such thing as a bad boy.

Other stories in the continuing saga of Jr.'s life include:

-Jr. Smiled, which traces his early life,
-Jr. Part I  Men Die, Nightmares Survive, which follows him to war,
-Jr. Part II  You Can't Live Forever, in which Jr. returns to Chicago to challenge his roots,
-Jr. Lied  Perception or Deception, which finds Jr. in an unexplainable marriage, and
-Jr.'s Angel,  in which Jr's chess game comes to an end.

Other books in which Jr.'s influence is felt include:

-Darkness Is My Shadow, in which Jr. assumes the role of mentor and coach and
-God Had a Breaking Point, in which Jr. assists in solving serial murders.

About the Author:

Joan L. Brown is a teacher who loves children and also writing with her husband. She's open to new challenges which most recent include ice skating, target shooting, and horseback riding.

Victor C. Brown, Jr. has achieved every challenge facing him, whether it is pile driving, coaching hockey teams, teaching boxing or running a sports program for his fellow Native Americans. He is still a mystery to the world, and to his wife.
