The first Discworld novel, revamped for a new generation of readers.
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place which might sound and smell very much like our own, but which looks completely different. It plays by different rules. Certainly it refuses to succumb to the quaint notion that universes are ruled by pure logic and the harmony of numbers.
But just because the Disc is different doesn't mean that some things don't stay the same. Its very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the arrival of the first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land. But if the person charged with maintaining that survival in the face of robbers, mercenaries and, well, Death is a spectacularly inept wizard, a little logic might turn out to be a very good idea.
The Colour of Magic is the first novel in Terry Pratchett's acclaimed Discworld series, of which some 20 million copies have been sold. This special hardcover edition is reissued to commemorate the twenty-first anniversary of its first publication by Colin Smythe Limited in 1983. Since then the Discworld has spawned a further thirty-one titles and become one of the most popular and celebrated sequences in English literature.
Review: The Colour of Magic is Terry Pratchett's maiden voyage through the bizarre land of Discworld. His entertaining and witty series has grown to more than 20 books, and this is where it all starts--with the tourist Twoflower and his hapless wizard guide, Rincewind ("All wizards get like that ... it's the quicksilver fumes. Rots their brains. Mushrooms, too."). Pratchett spoofs fantasy clichés--and everything else he can think of--while marshalling a profusion of characters through a madcap adventure. The Colour of Magic is followed by The Light Fantastic. --Blaise Selby

Descripción Colin Smythe, 1983. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fair. 1st Edition. 205pp, this is an ex library copy, one of the 400 or so. There are a number of issues with condition I will attempt to describe. However please do not hesiate to contact for more information, photos are available on request. Most significant issue is that the wrapper has been laminated to the boards, it is not possible to see the flaps as in addition to the lamination the library have put their own internal paper paste downs on the front and rear so it is not clear if the flaps are still present, there is no library mark to the spine. Edges and corners of boards are worn and bumped and this has worn through the lamination in several places on the edges with one small chip to spine and one to rear. Internally the book is complete with the remains of two library stickers on the free front end paper and a stamp and a code number on the front of the title page and the same on the rear of the title page. At some stage the bottom edge of the book has become damp and this has left a slight stain to the first few pages whilst the rest of the pages are rippled to the bottom edge. A couple of pages have dirty marks left by previous readers. I have attempted to describe all faults as fully as possible, please do not hesitate to inquire if you require any further information. Postage will be by special delivery, please inquire for prices outside the UK. Nº de ref. de la librería 016461
