487pp. A lovely copy of this first edition publication with the object of placing on record the response of the British Community in Argentina in Men, Money and Material to the call of the Motherland. Colour frontispeice plate reading 'presented to Joshua Chalmers Dods Lieutenant Royal Marines. attd R. M. E. by the British Community in the Argentine Republic as a mark of appreciation of a duty well done'. Illustrated with numerous b/w photgraphs of the volunteers. Loosely inserted two charming menus from 1920 - one blind stamped embossed and for the 'Services Association of Uruguay Armistice Dinner' and the other for Empire Day May 24th 1920 being for a Luncheon to the Returned Volunteers and Ex-Service Men gien under the auspices of The British Society in Uruguay. Gilt embossed lettering to the front board and spine, now a little dulled. Brown cloth boards with light bumps to the head and tail of the spine and to two board corners. A few slight soil specks to the lower corner of the front board and light rubbing to the rear board. A little splitting to the front and rear inner hinges, revealing the webbing though both boards remain firmly attached. There is a short tear to the inner hinge corner of the rear end paper and last page of the book, now expertly repaired. The textblock is very fresh and clean and there are no inscriptions.
