This work was prepared with seventy associate editors and assisted by over two hundred corresponding editors, collaborators and correspondents. The lead editor, Charles Sajous, was a pioneering American endocrinologist, who wrote the first treatise upon the subject. This volume contains seventeen Sections, primarily on surgical topics. Lewis A. Stimson (1844-1917) contributed the Section on Fractures and dislocations; Edward Constant Seguin (1843-1898) wrote the Section on Traumatic neuroses; and James Morrie Barton (b. 1846) and Lawrence Wolff (1845?-1901) contributed a chapter on anesthetics. Cordasco 90-7753 records six volumes, 1898-1901.
