Over the last few decades,it has been noticed that there is an intensive conversion of rural land to urban development like buildings, roads, recreation areas, reservoirs and other manmade structures. As population and land values increase, the effects of uncontrolled runoff become an economic burden and poses serious threat to health and wellbeing of citizens. Management of runoff from even a minor storm is rapidly becoming an engineering requirement to help reducing water logging, flooding and stream erosion. This book, therefore, provide a comprehensive and integrated approach using HEC-HMS models, Muskingum routing,Digital elevation model data,SCS-curve number method in estimating the flood volume, peak discharge for various return periods and land use change at various locations along the Addis Ababa city watershed .The methodology and results were analysed sub-basin wise of the whole urban watershed. The analysis should be specially useful to the Hydrologist, civil engineering students, field engineers, urban planner and other professionals who may be considering utilizing latest methodology for mitigating damage due to urban flood.
