Reseña del editor

William Wells Brown was an author, lecturer and historian in the mid-nineteenth century. He was the son of a white man and an enslaved woman. His story provides a window into the horrific practice of slavery. His narrative is a testimony the bondage so many experiences. After his escape, Brown was hired by the American Anti-Slavery Society, he worked with famous abolitionists including William Lloyd Garrison and Wendell Phillips. "Slave Narrative" is Wells' most famous work. Brown's narrative is a first hand testimony of the key practices that abolitionists of his time wanted to exploit. Like Frederick Douglass, and others narratives like it, Brown's accounts of his servitude, escape and life as a free slave give valuable insight into the practices of slavery -- as well as the institution as a whole.
