Joy Barker grew up in a large and loving family in Massey, a small town in beautiful northern Ontario. She moved to St. John's NL, early in her career and immediately fell in love with the raw, natural beauty of sea and rock, and with the vibrant local culture. She is married to Robert, and they have a daughter and a son. Joy's writing is inspired by favorite places, experiencing the beauty and wonder of nature, and also by those near and dear to her - in particular, her son, who has Down syndrome.

Dr. Bernie Potvin is Associate Professor and Director, Education, at Ambrose University, in Calgary AB. He is married, with three children. Bernie has worked in education in twelve countries, including Afghanistan, South Africa and Peoples Republic of China.
