Following the world-wide success of her memoirs 'The Downing Street Years' and 'The Path to Power', here for the first time in a single volume are all the significant speeches of Margaret Thatcher's career, from her address to the Conservative Political Centre in Blackpool in 1968 to the headline making Nicholas Ridley Memorial Address which she delivered in November 1996.
In between are the landmarks – the speech in Brighton on the morning after the IRA bomb, the Bruges Speech, the titanic resignation speech in the Commons – and other speeches which are equally revealing of Lady Thatcher's character and beliefs.
This volume forms a companion to the two volumes of Margaret Thatcher's memoirs, and will be required reading for all students of twentieth century history – and of great oratory of any period.
Margaret Thatcher was leader of the Conservative Party for fifteen years and Prime Minister for eleven and a half.
Robin Harris, who edited this volume, worked in the 1980s as a government adviser, director of the Conservative Research Department and member of the Prime Minister's policy unit. He has continued to advise Lady Thatcher since she left office and contributes regularly to British, European, and American newspapers and periodicals.
