This is a vintage Boston newspaper. Dated March 16, 1780. 4-pages. This is a smaller format and different masthead (more plain) than other copies of this newspaper title seen. ~13-1/2" x 8-1/2". Additional advertisements printed horizontally along the fore-edge. Some edgewear. Age-toned, and with some foxing. There is an inked name and town at the top front (probably contemporary). Difficult to make out, but the last name might be Libbins(?). Articles included: Revolutionary War news; reprinted articles from English sources concerning the "pirate" John Paul Jones; a call to members of the Massachusetts State House; procedural address to State of Massachusetts council from Samuel Adams and John Hancock (signed in type); article with details about Connecticut raising 1800 men for the Continental Army; request for information on captive British officers and soldiers, to be sent to George Washington, for a possible prisoner exchange; ads for sale of a privateer, and for the auction of a prize ship (Wallace); news reprinted from English newspapers, including a speech by George III to parliament partially concerning attacks on Great Britain, d'Estaing's departure from America, a proposed law against printing newspapers in foreign languages in Great Britain, news of Ireland, etc.; other advertisements, including for 100 muskets, a good second-hand carriage, gunpowder, and a reward of $200 for the return of a pocket-book containing several items including ~500-800 Continental Dollars. ; 28A; 13-1/2" x 8-1/2"; 4 pages.
