This is an Original, complete issue of 20 pages (includes Supplement) dated June 7, 1879 -- Vol. 23, No. 1171 -- Illustrated with wood cut engravings -- Light moisture stain around edges, otherwise very nice condition -- The Front Cover has a full page engraving by Ivan Pranishnikoff titled "Sad Memories--Decoration-Day" -- Page 444 has an engraving accompanying a poem by H. Pyle titled "The Robin's Vesper" -- Page 445 has three engravings, titled as follows: "The Late Hon. Asa Packer", "Louis Auguste Blanqui", and the third by W. M. Cary titled "Left To Perish" (Indian) -- Pages 448 & 449 have an excellent double page centerfold engraving titled "Decoration-Day The Spirit Of The War. 'No, no; it seems like mockery--now.' " -- Page 451 has an interesting article on "Egypt" -- Page 452 has a large engraving titled "Boating On The Cabool River--Visit To The Caves At Chicknour" -- Page 453 has an article titled "Tom Moore" (Thomas Moore, Poet) accompanied by five engravings, including an engraving by J. M. Falconer of "Moore's Cottage On The Delaware" -- Page 457 has two engravings of horses, one titled "Edward, Owned By Frank Work, Esq.", the other "Maud S., Owned By William H. Vanderbilt, Esq." -- Pages 458 & 459 have a double page engraving accompanying an article titled "Travel And Sport In Hudson Bay"with nine individual engravings, titled as follows: "Kayaks, Or Canoes, Showing The Long Double-Bladed Paddle", "Seal-Hunting On The Ice", "Building An Iglow, Little Whale River" (igloo), "Fall Upon Little Whale River", "Esquimaux Types", "Mode Of Killing The White Whale", "Returning From A Moose Factory", "Watching A Seal-Hole", and "Train Of Dogs In Harness" -- This issue contains a portion of the serial "Vixen" by Miss M. E. Braddon, Chapter XLIII -- Many articles related to these engravings and other events occurring at the time, as well as very interesting advertising -- We store and ship each Harper's Weekly issue in a large zip lock plastic sleeve with a board insert for stiffness.
