Speciality Metabolic and Endocnne Diseases (UCH-London, Harvard-USA) Is currently the Consultant Endocrinologist at Sri Sathya Sal General Hospital and Visiting Consultant at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bangalore, Emeritus Professor, National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Member, WHO advisory committee, trace elements research, Geneva, and Director (Hon.) National Foundation of Metabolic Bone and Stone Disease, India. Worked on 114 research projects, published 325 research papers, 22 monographs, 6 books, contributed 68 chapters to national and international books, eliciting more than 15,000 citations in the world literature. His most outstanding researches include the original works on fluorosis, nutritional and metabolic bone disease, hyperparathyroidism, osteoporosis, bone histomorphometry, kidney stones and update epidemiological maps for fluorosis, bone and stone diseases, through landmark surveys of 340.68 million rural population. She has been felicitated with WHO and Welcome Trust, London, visiting professor and scientist awards to visit Harvard Medical School and divisions of bone, stone and mineral metabolism at Henry Ford Hospital, Southwestern Medical School, Texas, USA, and at several European Countries. She established the first WHO referral centre for screening of inborn errors of metabolism in children in India. She has been honoured by Czechoslovakia Medical Association and European Society of osteoarthrology with medals, plaques and scrolls in recognition of her outstanding contributions. Dr. Teotia had the singular distinction of being the first scientist from Asia invited by Royal College of Physicians, London, to give an oration on pediatric implications of kidney and bladder stones for adult disorders in 1976.
