A Frontier Adventure - Tapa blanda

In his first novel, Canadian historian Roderick L. Hodgson describes the adventures of an emigrant family of settlers who travel from their homeland of Cumberland, England, to try to establish a new life in the frontiers of early Lower Canada (Quebec) in the mid-1820s. Along the way they encounter the Royal Navy and United States Navy working together to defeat a Spanish pirate. Upon arrival the Henderson family visits Halifax, Quebec City, Montreal, and finally their new home of Cavagnal. Located fifty kilometres west of Montreal, Cavagnal is now the Town of Hudson. Based on historical fact with Roderickas own ancestors as the basis for the adventure, it also describes the Rebellion of 1837, harmony between the native populations (Mohawks) and with a sub-plot of a canoe trip to the last fur trade rendezvous at the North West Companyas Fort William at the head of Lake Superior.
