In spite of her growing affection for Thomas and the warnings of an urban psychic, she pounces on an opportunity to go to Paris for several weeks. As predicted, Sarah endures two dangerous attacks, one in Paris, and another in Lucerne, Switzerland. She forges ahead, determined to enjoy a tourist trip and winds up face to face with her old dream mate, Geoff. She literally drops in her tracks when, unbeknownst to both of them, Geoff’s creative gremlin has jumped ship and taken up residence in Sarah. She wakes up in a hospital room recovering from cardiac arrest, with Geoff’s friend, Amélie at her side. Protective Amélie wants answers, while Sarah only wants to obey her signature instinct to run away. Geoff anxiously retreats to a safe distance back in London. The tale of Sarah and Geoff spans 24 years over the course of the novel, and travels from Chicago to Los Angeles to Paris to Lucerne to London and back. While Sarah may question the veracity of the Geoff in her dreams, she comes across an endless parade of real life folks who are just as off-kilter, including her narcissist ex-boyfriend, her eccentric employer, her best friend who happens to be her sister, and Geoff’s calculating manager. Sarah thought she had the answers, but now she doesn’t know. Can a psychic really see into the future? Can you change your destiny? Is there really such a thing as soul mates? Is it possible to be in love with two people at the same time? Can you control what you dream at night? Dreaming Is Free is the first book in a two-part series. Waking Reality picks up immediately where Dreaming Is Free leaves off, and pulls back the curtains on Sarah’s legacy. Waking Reality is due out in Spring 2016.

Born in Florida and educated in no less than five colleges, Karen concluded her formal education at the California Institute of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She has enjoyed travelling across the U.S., Europe, South America and Africa while learning new languages along the way. Karen’s debut novel, Dreaming Is Free was originally intended as a standalone novel. Due to popular demand and some characters that just won’t quit, a sequel, Waking Reality, is due out in the Spring of 2016.
