J.P.S. Brown was given the Will Jame?s Society?s first annual Big Enough Award in 1999 for lifetime achievement in the cowboy tradition. In 2003 the Arizona Historical Society and the Pima County Arizona Library gave him the Lawrence Clark Powell Award for his contribution to Southwestern Letters.
