A very sharp and solid copy that approaches near fine overall, but is graded conservatively primarily due to a brown spot to the top page edge near the spine measuring 3/16 inch by 1/8 inch. I cannot say if this is a foxing spot or not, there is some additional scant foxing present, very minor. The book otherwise is tight and square, the black and red spine lettering completely bright. The jacket is also bright, completely unfaded, a couple of tiny closed tears, and is just barley nicked at extremities. Bottom of front flap clipped, as is often seen with Norton. A brutal, hardboiled novel by an ex-con about criminals and violent crime. The author's first book, filmed as cult favorite *Straight Time* with Dustin Hoffman, Teresa Wright, Gary Busey, Harry Dean Stanton, M. Emmet Walsh, and Kathy Bates. Bunker played a bit part in the film, and later continued to surface as an actor in small, hip roles (most notably as Mr. Blue in *Reservoir Dogs*). Bunker also co-wrote the screenplay for another cult prison film, *Runaway Train*, and he also wrote and appeared in the film made from his novel *Animal Factory*, directed by Steve Buscemi.
