The Whispering Land, Gerald Durrell, Rupert Hart-Davis, 1961, First Edition, First Impression The sequel to A Zoo in My Luggage, this is an autobiographical account of the eight months the author spent travelling in Argentina during the late 1950s. The book is divided into two parts. In the first, Durrell travels south from Buenos Aires to the scrublands of Patagonia and in the second part he is based in a small town in the north western province of Jujuy. The book is illustrated throughout with thirty four illustrations by Ralph Thompson In very good+ condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is slight shelf wear to the top edge of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from marks, tears and inscriptions. There is a small mark to the bottom edge. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in very good+ condition with loss to the corners, a small nick to the top and bottom dges of the front cover, a tear and a small nick to the top edge of the spine, a small nick to the bottom edge of the spine, a small tear to the top corner of the back cover and a small nick to the bottom edge of the back cover.
