The orientalist Adrien Dupré (died in 1831), son of a diplomat, himself began a diplomatic career under the Ancien Régime, was employed in Corfu (1796), in Bouches-de-Cattaro (1797-1798), on the coast of the Abkhazians (1806), in Poland (1814), in Bone (1821), in Salonika (1826) then in Smyrna (1830).
