Books measure approximately 6 3/8" x 4". Volume I has 297 pages. Volume II has 274 pages.Volume III has 259 pages. Volume IV has 214 pages. Bindings redone preserving original leather on the boards with new spines and spine labels.Old bookplate of Edmund Philips. Pages have some soil and edges have some wear. Some internal darkening and foxing. Original leather on the boards has some wear as shown in photos. Sometimes classed with novels this book was advertised, at the time of publication, as an authentic narrative of facts. Whether fictional or true, the importance of this incredibly rare work is in the representation of his travels and voyages through a great part of the American Continent and the most of the West India Islands, or West Indies. Listed as Sabin 21386, which states "A curious work, mostly relating to America, and from the minute particulars given of the French settlements on the lakes, the Indians, etc., is evidently an authenic narrative.".
