Pale yellow paper wraps are mostly clean, with illustrated covers and printed advertisements on reverse. Wraps show some wear, dirt, smudges, signs of handling. Corners are worn, with some bending and closed tears. Bindings are secure. Owner's mark top right corner of Number 13. See photographs for details. The Virginians Advertiser is present in each part, as are nearly all, if not all, of the other inserted ads. Some on colored paper. Engraved title pages for Volume 1 and Volume 2 are at rear of parts 12 and 24. 46 etched plates after drawings by Thackeray. Lists of illustrations appear at end of parts 12 and 24. With "actresses" on page 207. Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. Issues housed in hinged box, green cloth over boards. Gilt title on spine side. Sir Horace Moule Evans (1841-1923) was an Indian Army Officer.
