Curiously, Usuard, according to many of the earliest manuscripts, used the work of Saint Bede, Florus of Lyon, and Saint Ado and their studies into martyrs and saints. Notable figures covered in this work include Eusebius, John the Baptist, Gregory the Great, Pope Marcellus I, Saint Peter the Apostle, Saint Stephen, and many others. This 1583 edition was collected and edited by Molanus, a 16th-century Louvain theologian.
