1583 1ed Martyrology of Monk Usuard Saint Bede Eusebius Famed Medieval Martyrs Usuard was a 9th-century Benedictine monk who is primarily remembered for his book Martyrology a work that was the most famous work of its kind through much of the Middle Ages. Curiously, Usuard, according to many of the earliest manuscripts, used the work of Saint Bede, Florus of Lyon, and Saint Ado and their studies into martyrs and saints. Notable figures covered in this work include Eusebius, John the Baptist, Gregory the Great, Pope Marcellus I, Saint Peter the Apostle, Saint Stephen, and many others. This 1583 edition was collected and edited by Molanus, a 16th-century Louvain theologian.
