1937 FIRST PRINTING of First Edition, one of 950 copies. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering front cover and spine, gilt decorations front cover and spine. The book is in superior condition with clean covers, bright gilt, some rubbing at spine ends, no previous owner marks of writing on any pages, no foxing, solid binding. The uncommon original dust jacket has 3cm deep loss at spine ends (loosely backed under the jacket protector with colored paper -- nothing attached directly to the jacket), loss along lower edge up to 1cm deep, large fairly clean tear from top spine corner into title lettering front panel, some cello tape at flap creases and spine, some marks on spine where cello tape removed, usual darkening to spine. The book measures 325mm tall x 254mm and has 328 pages, 211 b/w photos, 15 paintings/etchings (10 in color), several sketches. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
