First Edition, First Impression, 1952. Octavo with maroon cloth boards; gilt impressed details and decoration to spine and front. Slight indeed bumping at spine ends; rear leading top corner has a little bump - otherwise covers in good order. 490pp; tight, bright and clean with no markings or inscriptions. Page block edges darkening with age and handling, but nothing very obvious. The dustwrapper is price-clipped, rubbed and greying generally, with foxing speckled to both sides of rear panel. Some minor nicks to fold tops, and more so to spine top, which has a tape repair to back, and some small white spots on the blue panel. The striking design of the front cover helps greatly in ameliorating these faults, and the security and appearance of the dustwrapper is now improved by a transparent, removable sleeve. PLEASE SEE ALL FIVE IMAGES.
