Each volume comprises a portfolio case, a brochure with a 2 page introduction followed by descriptions of the manuscripts illustrated and detailed descriptions of the plates, and a set of unbound plates. The set comprises : Volume I. Hiberno-Saxon and early English schools, A.D. 700 to1100, published 1914, 11 pp and 16 plates (2 in colour); II. English, 12th and 13th centuries, published 1915, 9 pp and 15 plates (2 in colour); III. English, A.D. 1300-1350 published 1921, 9 pp and 15 plates (2 in colour); IV. English, A.D. 1350-1500, published 1922, 9 pp and 15 plates (2 in colour); V. Carolingian and French to early 14th century, published 1926, 12 pp and 15 plates (2 in colour); VI.
