London, John Murray: 1915, First Edition (January 1915), 6th printing (November 1915); Imperial Army Series, Based on Official Manuals, priced at 1/- (one shilling), the rear cover illustrating semaphore flag positions, WW1 advertisements in first few pages, stiff card boards in brown cloth, approx. 5 1/4 " x 4 1/4 " x 1/2", comprising 260 pp, illustrated with line drawings, photographs and two fold out charts: one, in black and white, facing P. 108 - Line Firing, and the other, in colour, facing P. 115 - Diagram Illustrating the Tactical Application of Fire. The booklet has the name of a previous owner shown as (in the rear): Cpl. F. Walton, D Coy., 91st P. P. A. & S. H., Canada, (Princess Patricia's Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada), then Sergt. F. Walton, and (in the front) Return to F. Walton, C.S.M., 1st Bn. Cheshire. Regt. There are also some pencil notes on the rear end paper. The rear cover had been cracked but holding, and repaired with some archival glue and reinforced with archival tape. There is some age browning here and there, but overall, although there are modern reprints available, this is a scarce booklet which survived WW1. It is in Very Good condition.
