Cook London, Longman & Co.), xvi, errata slip inserted; 395 pp. + 24 pp. publisher s catalogue; Volume 2: halftitile; vii, 440 pp. Dark brown, pebbled cloth with titlting gilt on spines with various, embossed designs, and blindstamped borders on covers; brown, coated paper endpapers with different, printed lists of books from Longman, on the back paste-downs. Binder s label on back paste-down of Volume 1: Bound By Edmonds & Remnants. London; bookseller s label on front paste-down of Volume 1: Bought of Willis [-]. Each printed, front paste-down has a sheet of light blue letter paper pasted over the printed list, and has the engraved, armorial, 19th century bookplate of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, and the titlepage of Volume 2 has a round, embossed stamp: R. B. Sheridan Frampton Dorset; each volume bears a modern former owner s book label under the Sheridan bookplates. Spine ends show light wear, bumping to cover corners. Sheridan bookplates show browning, a few scattered brown spots to endpapers. Overall, a sound and clean set in a Victorian cloth binding. Weight: 4 ½ lbs. Postage may be extra on this item.
