A rare copy with NO FEL LOGO on dust jacket. An exact facsimile of the Covici Friede first edition published in 1937. A fine book, looks new, as does the dust jacket and slipcase. Photos are the best description. When First Edition Library first began producing their incredibly realistic facsimiles of notable first issues, the early copies had dust jackets without any indication they were facsimiles. Not surprisingly, the industry disapproved. Collectors feared the near-perfect facsimiles would be passed off as originals. First Edition Library then changed their practice after a few copies of Mice and Men, For Whom The Bell Tolls, and The Great Gatsby were printed. This book is one of those rare copies. Afterwards, all their facsimile editions had the FEL logo on the rear flap of the dust jacket. (The books from the beginning had a notation on the copyright page that they are FEL facsimiles.) First Edition Library Facsimiles had the same weight, size, typeface, art, dust jacket, finish and texture as the originals , and are collectible in their own right. Even mistakes (all first edition points are present) were duplicated. For instance, this book has the awkward word "pendula" on page 9 which was changed shortly after printing began. The publisher's slip laid in with a description of the book and its first edition points is important to collectors, and this book has it. All our books ship in a box, and ship free within the US.
