Grained calf boards with gilt frame to front and ornate gilt compartments and gilt title ( 'Female Characters' ) on black label to spine. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Text block evenly, lightly tanned, otherwise clean and tight. No foxing/spotting. Pre title blank and verso of endpapers suspiciously white suggesting an early rebind? or perhaps just a reinforcement? Light bumps/rubs to extrems.
