Full leather, front board absent, spine faded and dry, ffep missing, frontis portrait of William Henry Drayton is present, along with the folding map of Williamson's marches against Cherokee Indians, 5,25" x 8.25", 430 pp + biographical sketch of William Henry Drayton i-xxvii pp, paper foxed but otherwise VG, needs rebinding, A basic source for the history of the American Revolution in the southern colonies, based largely on material the author inherited from his father, William Henry Drayton, who was an active leader of the Revolution. The author served twice as governor of South Carolina, and was deeply interested in its history from an early age. This history of the early stages of the Revolution in South Carolina was the product of his retirement, and was published a year before his death. It remains one of the standard works.
