With paper watermarked "W. Balston 1814." P. 37, line 8 shows an inverted quotation mark before the word "Till." With the early reading on p. 56, line 8: hunters' spears." P. 87 shows a press figure "10" at the bottom of the page, and p. xxi shows a press figure "3" at the bottom of the page. P. 175 shows the press figure of "3" at the bottom of the page. P. "li" is mis-numbered "l." In the Notes, beginning with p. lxxvii, notes 3 and 5 in Canto 3, as well as note 5 in Canto 4, there are references to a "Journal" written by Scott and published one week before. Paper size is 8 ½ in by 11 1/8 in. Bound in full, dark brown morocco leather by Zaehnsdorf, with their gilt stamp on the lower front inner turn-in, five raised bands on the spine, with gilt titling, double-line borders, and richly gilt inner dentelles, brown watered silk endpapers, top-edge gilt. Fading to the spines and cover margins. The fore and lower edges of the book have not been trimmed in binding. The spine ends at the hinges show some light wear. The front cover a linear scuff; the back cover shows a small light abrasion. Light wear to cover corners. With the bookplate of Cleveland, Ohio based book collector, William G.
